Old South is proud to house the Reading Food Pantry, serving over one hundred families in town. The Food Pantry was established in 1983 and is a collaborative effort from all members in the Reading Clergy Association.
Any Reading, Mass. resident or family in need can visit the Reading Food Pantry for a one-time visit. For ongoing support, clients must be referred in by the town case manager. Clients are welcome to come to the Reading Food Pantry twice each month, and on their first visit, in addition to groceries, household and personal care items, they also receive a gift card to Market Basket to purchase perishables that the Pantry does not stock (such as milk).
Due to COVID-19, the Food Pantry is operating as a drive through in order to serve Clients. Social distancing is practiced when possible, and Clients and Volunteers are required to wear face masks.
This month, The Food Pantry is in need of the following items:
Food pantry needs for this month are crackers
