Small Groups

Looking to go deeper with your spiritual life and friendships?  Small groups are a great way to accomplish that.  This page features our current and upcoming offerings for seasonal study groups.

Summer Small Groups – Part of our vision at Old South is to connect every member to a small group of people from church who meet regularly to share life together. The groups may do an activity, have a topic or theme to discuss, or simply gather for conversation and community. The goal is to have a group to belong to, where members care for one another and grow deeper in their faith together. We are trying out these small groups over the summer in hopes of launching new/more groups in the fall. Most groups will aim to meet twice a month. Here’s a description of the groups being offered:

Science & Spirit will meet on a weeknight (maybe Tuesdays?) to discuss science news of the day in conversation with our faith. We’ll start with the Tuesday Science Times, and perhaps explore “The Language of God,” a great book on this topic by Francis Collins. Leader: Mickey Stahl Timing: Weeknight

Outdoor Explorers is a family friendly group that will meet on Saturdays. We’ll set aside a little time to connect with our communities, our families and each other. We’ll explore through short walks, visits to local parks, or activities together. Locations will vary, and we’ll work to coordinate times that work. (Some of the locations may involve a nominal fee, but we will try to keep this minimal!) Leader: Bonny Stahl Timing: Saturdays

Soup for the Soul meets monthly (Thursday mornings?) to enjoy each others’ fellowship while we make soup that we then deliver, along with bread and a treat, to shut-ins and others who are in need of a caring touch. The visit to deliver the soup is an important and gratifying part of the ministry. Leader: Ann Ludlow Timing: Weekday Mornings

Identity in Transition will provide a supportive community for people who are going through times of change that may affect their sense of self. Participants will enjoy a creative journey of self-discovery. Leader: Suzy York Timing: Weeknight

Pause on the Patio will gather midweek to pause, reflect, and share fellowship. We will focus on discerning God’s presence in our everyday lives as we connect, support, and pray. Leader: Pam & Brian Walsh Timing: Weeknight (Wed or Thurs, 6:30 or 7)
