We love children of all ages and work hard to make sure everyone feels welcome. Old South offers many opportunities for children to learn, worship, and grow spiritually and in friendship. Some of these opportunities include:

Young Children – If you have an infant or toddler, we’ve got a spot for you. Need a comfortable space to nurse or let the little one play on the floor in worship? Sit in the “Tot Spot” at the back of the sanctuary. Want to drop your child off in a warm and nurturing environment while you worship? Check out our nursery, which is staffed every Sunday with both our paid nursery coordinator and an experienced, background-checked adult volunteer. Want to stick around for coffee and conversation after church? We have an area of our fellowship hall called “The Prayground” with toys and tables for little ones. We know it’s hard to get to church with little ones in tow, so we try to make it a little easier for you. We believe you’ll come to value attending church as a family as much as we value having the little ones here!

Worship Workshop (Sunday School) – Sundays 10:15 – 11:00. For children in preschool through 4th grade. Families sit together for the beginning of 10am worship in the sanctuary. Children go with their teacher following the children’s message for a hands-on experience with the Bible story using a rotation model, and led by our talented Sunday school teachers. Performing Arts Team – Sundays 9:00-9:40. Children of all ages are invited to participate in a variety of short-term performing arts opportunities, including handbells, puppeteering, singing, acting, and musical theater.

Acolytes – Children/youth in grades 4-8 are welcome to participate in our worship services as acolytes (altar servers). Acolytes light candles, assist with offering, sacraments, and other important parts of our worship service.

Vacation Bible School – A popular program for kids the first full week in August, from 9am to noon. VBS is a half-day camp for kids age 3 through 5th grade to experience God’s love in a creative, fun way.
